About Me
Hi, I’m Roman, a licensed commercial pilot and flight instructor (CFI/CFII) based on the Big Island of Hawaii. After 30 years in technology, I pursued my passion for aviation to become a professional pilot. Along the way, I discovered a love for teaching others to fly and now I work at Mauna Loa Aero flight school at Kona (PHKO) airport as a flight instructor. The school is approved to provide Part 141 training, as well as the traditional Part 61 one.

Whether you’re just starting your aviation journey or working toward an advanced rating, I’m here to provide personalized, one-on-one instruction tailored to your goals.

When I’m not flying or instructing, you can find me staying active with CrossFit or enjoying the incredible beauty of Hawaii. I believe that flight training should be more than just technical learning - it should be an inspiring, rewarding journey.

Let’s take to the skies together and make your aviation dreams a reality!

Why Train in Hawaii?
Minimal Ground Delays
At Kona (PHKO) airport, there is little air traffic, meaning we are almost always cleared for takeoff without long waits. The rental hours you pay for are almost 100% effective flight hours, not wasted on the ground.
Perfect Year-Round Weather
With over 360 flyable days a year, Hawaii offers consistent weather conditions, minimizing training interruptions.
Unmatched Scenery
Fly over sandy beaches, crystal-clear blue waters, and lush landscapes, making every training session a breathtaking experience.
Diverse Airspace
Nearby towered and non-towered airports provide a balance of experience, allowing you to learn to fly in different airspace environments.
Accessible DPE Availability
We can typically schedule a checkride within 2-3 weeks, ensuring you stay on track to achieve your certification without long delays.
